Therapist and Patient
FAQ: FAQ

The goal of this session is for Dr. Nair to gather information about your decision to begin psychotherapy. It is quite common for new patients to feel nervous or self-conscious. Most importantly, this session is used to determine YOUR comfort level with Dr. Nair and whether the therapy interactions feels like a good "fit".

The first few sessions of therapy are used to establish treatment goals. Psychotherapy primarily involves talking about the difficulties in your life. It is very likely that you will discuss your present-day experiences as well past situations in your life that may have contributed to the problems you currently face. All therapy experiences can be expected to have ups and downs. Sometimes you may feel that you are making rapid progress, while at other times you may feel stuck. Psychotherapy is most helpful when individuals are willing to be open and honest about their feelings, and when they are willing to change old patterns of behavior.
